Dark chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate get married in this delicious and healthy granola! Perfect for snacking or breakfast, it’s vegan, dairy free, gluten free and made with no butter, no oil and no sugar!

I’m always looking for creative snacks that can pass for breakfast, such as blueberry breakfast cake, flourless breakfast bars, and this chocolate peanut butter granola!

As someone who enjoys breakfast, I need to constantly switch it up to keep things exciting. I went through a huge oatmeal phase and as expected, got burnt out super fast. Instead of changing up the flavors, I opted to combine my favorite flavor combination (chocolate and peanut butter) into a cereal-like recipe.

This healthy chocolate peanut butter granola absolutely fits the bill and perfect for breakfast or a healthy snack!

Step 2- In a large mixing bowl, combine your rolled oats, nuts and salt and mix well.

Step 3- In a microwave-safe bowl or stovetop, combine your peanut butter with maple syrup and heat until warm and melted. Whisk together until combined.

Step 4- Combine your wet an dry ingredients and mix very well, until fully incorporated.

Step 5- Transfer the granola mixture onto the lined pan and spread out on an even layer. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are going slightly golden brown. Remove from the oven, mix around, and add chocolate chips. Place back in the oven and bake for an extra 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Almond butter and sunflower seed butter are both fantastic substitutions, along with smooth tahini.

As long as your nut or seed butter is smooth and drippy (and unsweetened), it generally will work well.

  1. I don’t have self-control when it comes to any kind of muesli, so no granola for me. When I was younger my brother and I sometimes ate enormous portions of muesli for dinner. I mean , not from a simple breakfast bowl, but from a serving bowl!! That’s how champions eat muesli 😀 (and then have a serious sugar rush afterwards)

  2. I’ve never been a fan of pretzels–ever. I don’t know what it is about them, but their texture has never appealed to me. Granola, on the other hand, I used to eat by the handful!

  3. YUM!! I hear ya on loving salty and sweet! I honestly don’t really eat granola much… but this looks good!! …I’m more of a salmon person… but I LOVE chocolate! So …yum!!

  4. Hahaha, same here – granola is not a meal unless it’s followed by at LEAST one refill and a protein shake or something. Although my habits might not be the healthiest metric…I stared at a bottle of jack in the fridge yesterday morning and had to convince myself that a pre-breakfast shot on a Sunday morning was NOT a wise choice. 😉

  5. Granola is made to eat from the hand. Without milk. At least that’s how I do it.
I love this – pretzels!! We only have salty boring pretzels here, so clearly, you have to send s jar over here. Go.

  6. Why didn’t I have this for my moving weekend? Sweet, salty, crunchy – perfection. Granola was meant to be a snack. Whoever decided to pretend pouring milk over it and thereby turning crunch into mush clearly didn’t think far.
And when did you say you were going to start sellling this in stores??!

  7. Mmm I want to be your real life friend who makes me this granola…pretty please?? Everything about this sounds perfect- you know I’m a sucker for the sweet & salty combo! Like you, I am not big on granola for breakfast (unless it’s added to a smoothie for crunch) but as a snack with some iced cold almond milk? YES PLEASE!

  8. Why would you do this to me right now? I’m still homeless and am supposed to looking for a place but now all I want to do is make this!
Pinning for later when I actually have my own kitchen and oven to make it in haha

  9. Oh my gooooood. This is one of the best recipes I’ve ever seen on a blog! Dying over here with my carb-free breakfast.

  10. Love this! And YES! I could not agree more, I am constantly eating granola…handfuls of it a lllllll the time, especially as it is sweet, but does not count as a sweet….so its like free pass cheating 😛 What a great combination of flavors…..love love love! Oh, and I have granola for dinner somedays too…….not a great idea for my running, but its just tooooooo good!

    1. It most definitely counts as a free pass! I legit ate it for dinner 4 nights in a row. After swearing not to the day before….

  11. I used to eat a lot of granola and for some reason stopped. I think I just stopped buying it randomly one day and that was that…I should buy more though. This looks really good but I think I say that about all of your recipes.

  12. I can totally get on board with this! Sweet and salty is the world’s best flavor combination. One of my favorite things in the world is extra salty pretzels covered in chocolate so I can only imagine this granola topping some yogurt or something.
